Welcome to the Jasper County Highway Department
The Jasper County Highway Department and County Engineer work with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other Local Agencies within Jasper County. They are responsible for the planning, programming, design, construction, maintenance, repairs, and inspection for all 181 miles of county roads and 40 bridges which make up the county highway system. The Highway Department also assists with the same items for the 772 miles of roads and 119 bridges on the roadway network of the 11 Township Road Districts as needed. This includes administering Township Motor Fuel Tax Funds and Township Bridge Funds for the Township Road Districts.

Due to increased roadway damages which occur because of freezing and thawing cycles during the winter months, the County Highways have Seasonal Weight Limits in place from January 15th to April 15th. During this time the limits may be removed when either the ground is adequately frozen, or the frost is out of the ground and the roads are stable.
Please contact the Jasper County Highway Department at 618-783-2915 regarding if weight limits are in place or removed.
For Weight Limits on Township Roads, please contact the Road Commissioner for the Township.
Anyone wanting to do work within the County Highway Right-of-Way is required to submit a Highway Permit Application.
